Meet The Member - Maytree Group

Maytree Group Harpenden Hertfordshire Construction

We caught up with Callum and Ross from Maytree Group to learn more about the story behind this trusted local business. From demolition and groundworks to civil engineering and landscaping, they're passionate about delivering expert construction solutions across Harpenden and beyond.

We are happy to have Maytree Group as part of the We Are Harpenden community! Could you tell us a little about the company’s journey, how Maytree Group began and how the business has evolved over the years?

We are brothers Callum & Ross, we co‑founded Maytree Demolition, Groundworks and Landscapes in 2015. From building the business from the ground up to earning a reputation for reliability, integrity and expert insight, we have worked hard in cultivating a loyal client base and driving the company into the multi‑million‑pound enterprise it is today.

We evolved in 2020 to Maytree Group a specialist group of Contracting companies. Now in 2026 we are offering expert consulting services and performing a high-quality range of Demolition, Groundworks, Civil Engineering & Landscaping services. From project concept - planning permission approval, through to completion.

Maytree Group provides a wide range of property and construction services, supporting projects from concept through to completion. What do you find most rewarding about helping clients bring their plans to life?

Problem solving! Reviewing drawings, visualising and building the project in our heads, identifying problems and engineering solutions that work for our clients but also us as a business – safely, efficiently and economically. We know if solutions are based on those 3 things, they will be the best ones for our clients and their project.

Working across Harpenden and the surrounding areas, what do you enjoy most about being part of the local community, and how does that influence the way the business operates?

We have seen some great projects come to life in Harpenden over the past 10 years and have built great relationships within the local community. Which have led us to many successful recommendations. We aim to deliver above and beyond to keep our clients returning to us and recommending our services to neighbours, colleagues, friends and family.

Every successful business is built on strong foundations. What values and principles are at the heart of Maytree Group, and how do they shape the way you work with clients and partners?

We always striving to advance our knowledge and want the same for our team. Sometimes the answer itself isn’t enough; knowing the why, what and how allows you to take clear and decisive action. There is always someone out there, a specialist in their field, who will help, support and guide you to make the right decision. Specialist contractors and pre-construction teams exist for this very reason. Ask for support, seek advice, and most importantly understand the safety, cost and time implications attached, before you act.

Managing property and construction projects often involves coordinating multiple services and stakeholders. How does Maytree Group ensure projects run smoothly and deliver the best possible outcomes for clients?

By bringing structure and momentum to complex projects; co-ordinating teams, solving problems, and making sure operations run safely, efficiently, and to programme. Seeing a project progress from planning through to successful delivery and knowing that the right decisions, leadership and teamwork made that happen. We are currently focusing on developing our supervisors so good decisions can be     made on the ground with confidence. When a site runs smoothly, the client’s happy, and the team takes pride in what they’ve delivered—that’s a real buzz.

The property and construction sector is constantly changing. What are some of the biggest trends or developments you’re seeing in the industry at the moment?

Swimming pools have been popular over the last couple of years for us, due to the climate becoming warmer here. Also, due to recommendations on pools that we have successfully completed for clients. Housing developments seem to have slowed down slightly, due to material increases, with fuel increases and uncertainty over the last few months.

Many clients may not realise the full range of services Maytree Group offers. What aspects of the business do people often find most surprising?

Understandably, most clients focus is on programme and cost, but the real value is when a project in the ground is done well from the beginning, it doesn’t draw attention - and that’s the point.

Demolition and Groundworks packages in small residential and commercial construction often carry the most risk but aren’t always prioritised. Whilst it may be hidden, buried or built over, it’s certainly not the place to cut a corner. That’s why we always work with our clients to understand the risks associated with a project and engineer ways to reduce or mitigate them.

Looking ahead, are there any exciting projects, developments, or plans for the business that you’re particularly excited about?

We have two very exciting swimming pool projects in the pipeline. Which we have designed from the initial stages with the clients and will be involved from start to completion. Seeing the plans and all the work behind the scenes come to life is really rewarding.

Our consulting arm launched only this year, and has had a successful start and we are looking forward to seeing this thrive and expand over the next couple of years.
