elite care under one roof

A visit to AJ Physio & LH Personal Training at Thrales End Farm, Harpenden.

Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting two of our valued members — Lewis Head from LH Personal Training & Wellbeing, and Adam and Jordan from AJ Physio — based at the beautiful Thrales End Farm in Harpenden.

This visit gave us a firsthand look at how expert physiotherapy, innovative diagnostics, and performance-focused personal training come together under one roof to create a truly seamless wellness experience.

Step 1: Comprehensive Physiotherapy Assessment

We kicked things off with an in-depth clinical assessment by Adam and Jordan at AJ Physio. Both of us arrived with ongoing injuries and minor discomforts, and were keen to gain professional insight.

·       Sabine was diagnosed with a weakened ATFL (ankle ligament) following a distal fibula stress fracture, alongside shoulder issues involving the pec minor and rotator cuff.

·       Katie was found to have a pre-existing rotator cuff (tendon) pathology with posterior capsular (joint) instability.

The thorough, hands-on evaluation covered posture, mobility, and muscular strength — laying the foundation for a targeted rehabilitation plan.

Step 2: Strength & Balance Analysis with ForceDecks

Next came the technology. We were introduced to ForceDecks by VALD Performance — wireless, dual force plates that deliver real-time data on how force is applied through the body during squats, jumps, and balance tasks.

ForceDecks help with:

·       Rehabilitation – Tracking recovery and customising treatment

·       Performance training – Identifying inefficiencies and imbalances

·       Injury prevention – Highlighting asymmetries before they become problems

Our testing session revealed clear imbalances:

·       Sabine showed significant strength differences between her left and right shoulders.

·       Katie’s data confirmed lower-limb imbalance, supporting her earlier assessment.

The best part? The results were instantly visualised, synced to an app, and ready to track long-term progress — offering both clients and clinicians measurable, tangible insights.

Step 3: Tailored Personal Training with Lewis Head

Armed with data, we moved on to a bespoke training session with Lewis. Each movement and exercise was customised based on our physio results:

·       Sabine focused on ankle strengthening and shoulder stabilisation.

·       Katie worked on mobility and correcting muscular imbalances in her lower body.

Lewis made real-time adjustments to our form and introduced exercises targeting often overlooked stabilising muscles. Despite their simplicity, these movements challenged us — proving just how vital these “support” muscles are for injury prevention and overall performance.

Step 4: Ongoing Support via the MoveHealth App

After the session, we received full digital reports and tailored rehab programmes through MoveHealth — a powerful exercise prescription platform.

The app includes:

  • Custom rehab and training plans

  • Educational videos and technique breakdowns

  • Progress tracking

  • Real-time communication with AJ Physio and Lewis

This digital support ensures continuity and accountability, so every client stays on track long after the initial session.

Final Thoughts: A One-Stop-Shop for Wellness

What makes this setup so unique is the collaborative care model — expert physiotherapy, cutting-edge diagnostics, and personalised training all in one location.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, working on your performance, or simply looking to move better and feel stronger, AJ Physio and LH Personal Training offer a truly integrated approach to health and wellbeing.

This is more than a gym. It’s a complete support system designed around you.
