2nd Sunday each month, from 08:00 to 14:00
St Peter’s Street, St Albans AL3 5DJ

The St. Albans markets have been at the heart of St Albans since they were established in 860 by Abbot Wulsin. The market trading tradition stretches back further in the forum of Roman Verulamium and back to 20 BCE at the even earlier Catuvellaunian settlement of Verlamion.

Set in historic heart of town, the St. Albans Farmers Market offers a sensational spread of local produce, like local specialities, cheeses, top quality meat, freshly baked cakes and read and hand-crafted gifts with street food to eat on the go.

Take a stroll around the market and enjoy a vibrant shopping experience just opposite the Town Hall.

Hertfordshire County Show

to 26 May

Hertfordshire County Show

  • The Showground, Dunstable Rd, St Albans AL3 7PT (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Run by the Hertfordshire Agricultural Society, The Hertfordshire County Show started as a ploughing match on the grounds of Hatfield House in 1879, becoming a full County Show 7 years later. Since 1962, it has been held at the Showground in Redbourn, but prior to this it was held at various locations across the County. The Show is held annually on Saturday and Sunday of the last May bank holiday.

The Show is organised with the intention of helping to ‘educate and raise awareness about local agriculture and all associated skills and trades’, which is why we encourage all visitors to visit the Hertfordshire Farmyard and ‘Meet The Farmer’.

Through the years, this objective has grown to include ‘support local businesses, services and enterprises’, so across the Showground you’ll find talented artisans, producers and traders from across the County – A Showcase of Hertfordshire’s finest!

The Show still maintains many traditional County Show values, such as the Equine and Livestock Showing, as well as the Show Jumping – we now offer one of the best grass surfaces for jumping in the country! The Grand Parade is a spectacular display at many County Shows and we are proud to be able to show over 50 animals each day.

The Show is run by over 140 volunteer stewards – these are the friendly, smartly dressed faces you’ll see around the Show! Throughout the year, a team of these Stewards create the ‘Show Committee’ who regularly gather to lead the Show into the next year, ensuring we not only meet our educational objectives, but create a family friendly event you can look forward to each year.

St. Albans Foodies Festival at Oaklands

Foodies Festival is a celebration of quality local food and drink

Foodies Festival was launched in Edinburgh in 2006 and now with 14 festivals around the country, it is the largest food and drink festival in the UK.

Each Foodies Festival is a celebration of the food in each region, as we encourage local artisan producers, local street food traders and local food and drink producers to take part.

At the heart of the festival are the theatres, giving top local chefs the opportunity to show off their cooking skills to their audience, who can take the recipes home with them.

We are delighted that MasterChef and MasterChef Professionals winners and finalists come on tour with Foodies and join the fun in the Chefs Theatre.

In the Cake and Bake Theatre local bakers join Bake Off winners and finalists baking and making sweet treats. In the Drinks Theatre wine, champagne, beer, cider and other drinks experts run tutored tastings every hour. The Kids Cookery theatre gives children a chance to taste new flavours and learn basic cooking skills. The Cookery School teaches authentic recipes in hands-on sessions. Learn more about Firepit Cooking from specialists.

Home Farm Glamping who on the back of their incredible sold-out Woodfired Canteen June events, are extremely excited to host three additional dates in September.

Celebrated Bahraini-British chef, author and Head of Ottolenghi Test Kitchen, Noor Murad, will be first up on the 12th of September, for the first of their Autumnal wild dining sessions in collaboration with fire-cooking legend Ben Quinn and his Woodfired Canteen team.

Next up, Karan Gokani, Co-Founder & Creative Director of Hoppers Restaurants, will be bringing an Indian and Sri-Lankan-inspired one-of-a-kind menu, co-designed by Ben Quinn on 13th of September.

Gill Meller, a chef, award-winning food writer and regular on the hugely celebrated Channel 4 series, River Cottage, will be rounding up the four-night series on 14th of September, cooking up an unforgettable feast with the Woodfired Canteen team.

Their September Woodfired Canteen residency will take place within our atmospheric, giant tipi shelter. Weather permitting drinks will be served outside, under the Oak Tree pre dinner.

Tickets are £78 + booking fee and include a welcome drink, pre-dinner nibble and a 3-course seated dinner served on sharing platters.
